How does a major exporting power transform its agricultural resources into an instrument of coercion?
This is the central question raised by Russia’s strategy in Ukraine since the 2022 invasion. Beyond the battlefield, the Kremlin is deploying a methodical strategy of economic asphyxiation against its Ukrainian competitor by striking its agricultural sector, which is heavily export-oriented. In parallel, Moscow is attempting to position itself as the supplier and “guarantor” of food security for the Global South, particularly on the African continent.
